I can say I have done an important number of weddings so far in Romania, but since I moved to London I tried to explore the multiculturalism and to get to know other traditions than those I already knew. Having friends from Afghanistan, Pakistan I met Dunia who was planning her Mehndi Party. I was really curious what is going on to this party as I only did Afghan Wedding in the past.
Mehndi or Henna Ceremony takes place one-two days before the wedding and it’s held separately for the bride and the groom. However, nowadays the ceremony is usually combined.
In the Ceremony, the women attending the event, who are close relatives of the bride, apply henna on her hands. This ritual is supposed to bring good luck and longevity to the bride’s married life.
The women are wearing beautiful coloured dresses and imposing pieces of jewellery.
I’m a daughter, I’m a sister, I’m a wife but the most important I’m a mother.
I’m so blessed that my son chose me to be his mom; I can not imagine my life without him.
Before, as a photographer, I was more focused on fashion photography, I did weddings, parties, engagement photo shoots, well, a little bit of everything. But since I became a mother, my interest switched to baby photo shoots. Of course I started with my baby and even if I did not dedicate my whole time to take pictures of my son (but I dedicated all my time to him anyway) I still took the advantage of every occasion to photograph him.
Below is a small selection of pictures of him.
